Meanwhile… 042

One of my pet peeves with all things internet, especially on social media - namely Facebook, is the ridiculous trend of sharing “puzzles” that claim only a certain percentage of people can solve, or testify to someone having a “genius level” intellect.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not at all having a dig at those who share them or partake in them - some of them can be fun when they’re actually a challenge. But the blind willingness of so many to share them is also a reflection on the pack-mentality that people easily get swept up in during online interactions, where the first step in critical thinking shouldn’t be the puzzle itself, but why it exists in the first place, and the sad answer to that in many cases is simply for the purpose of click-bait and gaining audience traction.

It’s a mindset that lends itself to further avenues of “liking” and “sharing” without wondering what the source is - something that some very toxic wells use to poison the water that flows through the feeds of others. When you share a post from someone, you’re not just sharing that one single voice, you’re amplifying all that their tongue may offer - for good or for bad.

Anyway, waxing prolific aside, I just thought it would be funny to have a zebra using the same social trappings to bamboozle the predators it’s faced with. And I was right. I personally think this is funny as fuck, but I’m biased.
