This instalment is a clear example of how one concept can begin from a simple image that’s drawn off the cuff. When I first wrapped up the previous instalment of number 26, I actually felt somewhat drained from simply having to explain what it entailed (if you haven’t read or seen it, it deals with social masking and my own take on the mechanics of it) so I knew I wanted to do something light and simple.
With that in mind I found myself drawing a small dog. And then a dandelion. And I realised that I wanted the dog to be sniffing it.
As for the rest of the narrative, I knew that come the end I wanted the dog to sneeze, sending the dandelion spores (technically known as “achenes” - something I find amusing, given how close it is to “Achoo!”).
I then pondered it from the dandelion’s perspective and considered how annoyed I’d be if I’d just been about to say something very important before being sneezed apart by a curious mutt, lol
The dandelion will find its voice later on.
Trust me. This isn’t the end of this saga.
